Most Interesting Things To Do in Singapore
Singapore is definitely a beautiful place that you must visit to have a great time while on vacation, this is one of the most common places to go on vacation.
Well, Singapore has everything to make it your perfect vacation destination, you will certainly have a great time exploring the different facets of Singapore that will enchant you and make you fall in love with this beautiful country.
FOOD:
Grab a local and go on an island-wide food trip. Hokkien mee, katong laksa, roti prata, milo dinosaur, rojak, black pepper crab, hainanese chicken rice, saté, goreng pisang, bandung, nonya kueh etc.
I'm not a big fan of durians, but apparently, your journey isn't complete until you've had one.
SHOOP:
In Orchard Road, you will find everything from holes in the wall that sell cheap indie clothing (eg Far East Plaza) to luxury boutiques. It is a very long way and new malls are constantly being added, so if you like shopping, you can easily go shopping all day long, from one end to the other.
Vivocity is an interesting shopping centre to see if you are on the way to Sentosa. Go to Sim Lim Square for cheap electronics and Bugis Street nearby for cheap clothes. The Great Singapore Sale is in June.
"Cultural" sights: Chinatown and Little India have been criticized for being too touristy, but they are still fantastic places to go. Good dim sum and traditional desserts in Chinatown, great North Indian food in Little India (sorry for straying to eat again).
Cheap and interesting souvenirs abound. The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown is pretty interesting, and there are many great Indian temples. Note: It is taboo to take pictures at certain religious ceremonies, so check this first.
Arab St would also be an interesting place to visit, among other things for the food and the sheesha salons.
VISITING NATURAL PLACES:
The Singapore Zoo is probably one of the best in the world, but the more interesting part IMO is the Night Safari, a part of the zoo that opens at night, so you can watch nocturnal animals while they are actually awake.
There is also the Jurong Bird Park, which I haven't been to since I was 8, so I can't say much about that .. Sungei Buloh, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, MacRitchie Reservoir and Palau Ubin are fun when you walk in nature.
Southern Ridges extends from West Coast Park to Vivocity and is also pretty decent. However, these are usually full-day activities and I doubt that many people will come to Singapore to see the small rainforests, so I will take a walk in nature unless you can no longer do things.
AMAZING NIGHTLIFE:
Over the past decade, Clarke Quay has been transformed into a great place for going out, bar hopping and good food (there I go again ...).
In addition to Clarke Quay, there are also places such as Robertson Quay, Fullerton and Holland Village. One height and Ce La Vi on the roof of Marina Bay Sands are good for the view.
TOURIST SPOTS:
Marina Bay Sands "Integrated Resort" (read: casino), Universal Studios, Sentosa Island (pretty nice, good beaches, giant Merlion), Singapore Flyer (giant Ferris wheel like the London Eye, not really worth the money), Merlion (good for photo-ops only), Esplanade (the most interesting thing about this structure is the durian form), and the new gardens along the bay. The zoo and the bird park really have to fall under this point.
For photography enthusiasts, the bay is beautiful, especially at night (take the MRT to Esplanade or Promenade). Changi Airport is presented as a cool place to check out, with excellent architecture, art and shopping.
RANDOM WORKS:
if you have friends in Singapore, invite them to spend an afternoon in a board game cafe - a great group activity! Singapore's first cat café is another great way to spend an hour or two, just like do-it-yourself cafes with pancakes.
The Marina Barrage is a neat place to fly with a great view of the city. Try to find a pasar malam (travelling night market) to guess what, more good food and a piece of the heartland.
I don't know if fish is something unique in Singapore, but they are pretty weird ... you actually dip your feet in a fish tank and eat the dead pieces of yours.
HOLIDAY AND CULTURAL EVENTS:
Depending on the time of year, you may be able to catch various festivals such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Hungry Ghost and um .. Christmas. See if you can catch a lion dance performance.
Try the holiday-specific food such as mooncake at Mid-Autumn Festival. The Istana (National Palace) may be open to visitors on some public holidays.
Museums: the National Museum of Singapore has a pretty interesting exhibition about Singapore's history, from colony to cosmopolitan metropolis. Great for a rainy day (there will be enough)!
