Top 10 Job Search Websites & Apps for Singapore Jobs
Singapore Jobs: Top 10 jobs search websites and apps
The problem with looking for a job online in Singapore is that you can all too easily be sidelined in an abyss of YouTube videos and Instagram stories if you were to apply.
Read this list of top 10 websites and job search apps in Singapore to stay focused.
1. JobsDB
JobsDB is one of the best-known websites for a job search in Singapore (if not THE best known), and it has a huge database of jobs in all sectors. All kinds of companies have vacancies here, from large banks to start-ups to SMEs.
You can search for jobs using job titles or keywords, but our favourite feature is the ability to specify the area where the office is located, which is very useful to prevent those jobs from waking you up at 5 AM and spend hours in public transportation.
2. JobStreet
Together with JobsDB, JobStreet is the other of the 'Big Two' websites for a job search in Singapore. Just like its biggest competitor, this website has thousands and thousands of jobs in all sectors and all business types.
There is a handy "Minimum Salary" filter that allows you to exclude those jobs that you expect to live on peanuts.
3. STJobs
Remember the good old days when people were still reading the Straits Times (and kopi cost only 10 cents and Punggol was still agricultural land)? Back then, job search consisted of searching the Straits Times Classifieds section and calling up potential employers.
Today, the job section of Straits Times Classifieds lives on in STJobs, a job search website owned by Singapore Press Holdings. They have a fairly decent number of vacancies in a wide range of industries, most of which come from SMEs. Many contract jobs too.
4. Monster
Monster is a favourite platform among employment agencies that are looking for candidates. They also have an app for job search en route.
In addition to browsing through vacancies, you can create a resume and post it online so that someone will hopefully contact you with a vacancy. If you are looking for a new job, it is absolutely no harm to leave a copy of your resume here.
5. MyCareersFuture (formerly Jobs Bank)
MyCareersFuture.sg has replaced Jobs Bank, a government job search site. Jobs Bank is a website managed by the government, which means that it may not be for extreme paranoid types who are afraid of Big Brother.
On the positive side, employers who post job openings on the site are usually looking for Singaporeans, which helps you avoid those companies that, ahem, are looking for nationalities willing to accept a lower salary.
You can also filter lists for "jobs with government support", which means that the employer receives a kind of incentive (for example, wage subsidy) from the government. This means that you may have a better chance of getting the job even if you are inexperienced.
6. JobsCentral
Yet another popular website for job search with positions in a wide range of industries. Just like the previous sites, JobsCentral is a general website for job search.
On their front page, they have a list of the larger companies that have posted job advertisements, so if you are looking for an MNC to work for you, you can make an effort.
There is also a special section for new grad jobs to make it easier to find a job that accepts your lack of work/life experience.
7. LinkedIn Job Offering
LinkedIn is no longer just a network site. More and more employers and recruiters are now searching for candidates on the site and posting vacancies. If you are looking for a hip tech startup or media company, chances are that you will find their vacancies on LinkedIn Jobs.
Another nice thing about LinkedIn Jobs is that you can expand your search to include countries that you don't like to work in, instead of opening a new tab and going to another country's search platform. In addition, LinkedIn has an app for job search.
8. Startupjobs
So you decided to ruin those heartless business giants and G2000 suits and work for a start-up where you can work in flip-flops? Then you are more likely to find your dream job on StartUpJobs than JobsDB.
The job categories have a slightly finer structure than the usual 'Accounting' and 'F&B' categories. Here you can specifically search for a career in UX / UI, front-end development, data analysis, and so on.
Ironically, StartUpJobs does not have an app for job search ...
9. FastJobs
If you are just looking for a temporary or part-time position where you can earn money quickly instead of building a career, FastJobs is the job portal you should use. Students looking for a job as a sandwich artist in Subway or a holiday performance as an assistant temporary worker will find those positions, as well as many others, on the site.
FastJobs also has an app for searching for a job with the same name, which is very useful for preparing the next temporary performance while you are still busy with your current performance.
10. Cult jobs
Do you see yourself contemptuously looking at the office drones at Raffles Place running to work and promising yourself that you will never accept a job that oppresses your creativity?
Then you might find a suitable job at Cultjobs, where you will find jobs in the creative industry in the arts, film, fashion, architecture, animation and more.
Some of the crazy vacancies we have found here are "Student Leathercrafter," "Financial and Administrative Hero," and "Cryptocurrency Social Media Intern," but there are also regular vacancies in technology, marketing, advertising, and media.
